Description:
The drawings were part of an exhibit at MAXXI, photographed July, 2015. This is a site plan and elevation drawings for an unrealized project, the "village radieux" where Corbusier tried to apply his thoughts about the "radient city" housing blocks to an agrarian village. He wanted to introduce materials like reinforced concrete and steel framing to a rural setting, and also investigated the layout of housing integrated with farms. During this period he also produced plans for low-slung houses with grass (green) roofs. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordartonline.com/)
