Description:
555 Mission Street is a 33 story, 147 m (482 ft) tall office tower in the South of Market area of San Francisco; the anchor tenant is currently Deloitte. The building fronts on a mid-block plaza between Mission Street and Minna Street. The park, required as part of a public space initiative by the City of San Francisco for all new buildings, features large outdoor sculptures by Ugo Rondinone and Jonathan Borofsky. Privately owned public space (POPS) refers to a category of physical space that, although privately owned, is legally required to be open to the public under a city's zoning ordinance. The designers incorporated the sculpture, a "living wall" of plantings, seating areas and other landscaping into the plaza. Although required as public space, the plaza design contributed to the building's LEED Gold certification. (Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page)
