Description:
Originally inside a tabernacle of a street shrine in the Piazza Santo Spirito, along the via del Leone in Florence. The fresco was detached and remounted. Originally it was surmounted by a plaque bearing the date of 1356. This painting is one of very few that can be reliably attributed to Giottino (Giotto di Stefano), who is known for an extremely refined drawing style and use of chiaroscuro. The only date documentation for the artist is mention in 1368-1369 with Giovanni da Milano, frescoing a chapel in the Vatican.
