Description:
|
The former convent also contains the great refectory (Cenacolo di Santo Spirito) with a large fresco portraying the Crucifixion above a fragmentary Last Supper, both attributed (not securely) to Andrea Orcagna (1360-1365) or his workshop. Nardo di Cione is also cited. An attribution was made by Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378-1455) in his "Second Commentary". Some scholars have attributed some of the figures in the Crucifixion to the Master of the Bargello. The frescoes were rediscovered in the nineteenth century after being covered for centuries.
