Description:
Originally from the Abbazia di S. Maria Assunta (Abbey of St. Mary of the Assumption), Monteveglio. An early work of Costa, it is dated ca. 1480-1485, based on the strict spatial order and the concreteness of the portrait of Mary. At some point the central panel became separated from the predella, now in the Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC.
