Description:
|
Rosso's Moses Defending the Daughters of Jethro (Florence, Uffizi) was probably painted in Florence, although the date is disputed by some scholars and the appeal of Michelangelo is very evident in the handling of the naked male forms, the extensive foreshortening and the physicality of the struggle. From the impossible jumble of battling men, terrified sheep and a semi-clothed daughter, gesturing horror, Rosso created a strange and contrived drama.
