Description:
In 1525-1528 Pontormo painted the most important ensemble of his maturity, the decoration of the Capponi Chapel in S Felìcita, Florence (in situ). The altarpiece shows the Lamentation; in the pendentives of the dome are tondi of St John the Evangelist, St Matthew, St Luke, and St Mark, and on the side wall is a fresco of the Annunciation.
