Description:
|
The central emblem of a floor mosaic, done in opus vermiculatum work. The discovery site is thought to be Rome, the mosaic was later part of the Farnese Collection. The harpy, with the hind quarters of a bird, holds a water or wine jug and balances a tray on her head. In front of her flies a dove, and she is followed by an amorino carrying an urn.
