Description:
|
Known as a landscape painter, albeit one who frequently included industrial settings, he exhibited at the Salon des Refusés in 1863. Guillaumin’s work continued to show strength and individual character, developing the innovations of Impressionism in a modernist spirit. Some of his later bold simplification and strong color contrasts prefigures Fauvism. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordart online.com/)
