Description:
|
A portrait of Tissot's mistress, Mrs. Newton. Signs of the Japanist (Japonisme) style are found in the verticality, inspired by kakemono scrolls, and the pattern-like background of a large horse chestnut tree, through whose leaves and branches can just be made out a small group of deer.
