Description:
From a nymphaeum found in the Vesuvian area around Pompeii. A boxer with protective bands around his hands stands on a plinth between columns and bands of lateral continuous wave and palmette patterns. Below there is a panel with a rooster (cockerel) and pine cone. It is heavily restored; it may have been part of the nymphaeum with the blue niche (inventory 10014).
