The Villa Medici contains some of the collections of Cardinal Ferdinando de' Medici as well as collections as part of the French Academy in Rome, including a Gipsoteca, a plaster-cast collection for study purposes .The Quirinal Dioscuri (also known as the Quirinal Horse Tamers) is a colossal marble sculpture group (5.6 m high) that consists of two nude male figures reining in two horses. It is likely that the colossal Dioscuri on the Quirinal formed part of the decoration of the Baths of Constantine, although they too may have been salvaged from the adjacent temple precinct. Unlike their counterparts, the Capitoline Dioscuri, the horsemen of Quirinal Dioscuri have a dynamic pose and their horses are in motion. The originals are Roman, Imperial era (4th century).
