Description: 
Roman copy after Greek sculpture. No dates given. The Eros or Cupid figure has an antique torso and thighs; the head (type of the Phidian Sappho), arms and legs are modern additions. The Psyche figure has an antique male torso with modern added breasts; the head (Apollinian type), arms and lower body are modern additions. Medium-grained marble (antique parts) and Carrara marble (modern restorations). Cupid and Psyche is a story originally from Metamorphoses (also called The Golden Ass), written in the 2nd century CE by Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis (or Platonicus).
