REMARKS BY ROY HAMILTON (1988): Constructed of three panels sewn together by hand. Commissioned together with X88.1259 in Barai Hamlet. Made by a group of weavers consisting of Habiba Haji Bah' Udin, No'o Rene Usman Moh. Saleh, and Siti Hadjija Moh. Gani. The style of this sarong is known as "zawo mangga metu dhiki". "Mangga" sarongs have banded center panels with the indigo color predominating. "Metu dhiki" (small ants) refers to the relatively narrow bands which comprise the major decorative element of this sarong.
