Content/Description
Notes:
FROM KAHLENBERG, M.H. (1977). "TEXTILE TRADITIONS OF INDONESIA", LACMA, P. 105: "Selimut", worn by both men and women as either a shoulder wrap or skirt, are constructed in three vertical sections. The individual widths of the pieces are narrow by comparison to those woven in other islands, but when sewn together they produce a wider textile. These "selimut" are wrapped around the waist, folded across the front, and then rolled at the top. An additional sash or cloth is sometimes worn around the waist and folded or tied in front."
