REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON THE BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Selendang"; used as a sash or carrying cloth. Indigo dye. Collected during the decade prior to World War II. Possibly it was collected together with, and was an accessory for, the "dodot" (X61.9); otherwise, its finction is uncertain. According to Rachael Grossman (1975): a sling for carrying burdens (="selendang"); not typical pattern for Jogjakarta.
