Cuba - Province of Camaguey - Senado: At the central Senado, A freight train arrives from distant plantations with a load of cane just harvested for processing at Central Senado where it will become the crude (brown) sugar which later is shipped to the United States for refineries to turn it into the types of sugar the American Housewife knows and uses. Central Senado is one of the best managed and most clearly operated of all Cuba's 161 "centrals" (sugar mills). It is owned by private Cuban capital and operated by Cubans. Senado is about 35 miles northeast of the city of Camaguey in the heart of the rich sugar lands of the Province of Camaguey.
