SOUTH CAROLINA Near Charleston: Cypress Gardens, part of the Dean Hall Plantation, considered in the antebellum days as a model plantation in the Low Country, is a mecca for visitors during the late fall to late spring days. Dredged and in some places filled in, the old cypress swamp has become a garden and a lake whose mysterious beauty comes from the waters made dark by the tannic acid from the arboreal giants which still flourish from its depths. The dark and still waters make a perfect mirror for the trees and the blossoms. Purchased for "M".
