REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Kebaya" or woman's blouse. The "kebaya" is the upper garment in the Indonesian woman's national costume, worn with a wrap-around batik "kain". This combination is commonly known as "kain and kebaya". White lace "kebaya" are currently less frequently seen than the popular everyday "kebaya" made of floral print fabric.
