REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: The animals appear to be stylized bird forms similar to those in Gittinger's Plates 1-8, although they have four legs instead of two [Gittinger 1972:167-168]. The human figures with their rectangular body forms appear to be typical of the Liwa-Kenali and Krui areas [Gittinger 1972:159]. In the Krui District, "tampan" are often woven in strips with continuous warp threads and only cut into squares when needed. X76.1367A is an example of this technique, of which Entwhistle found no evidence in other areas of Southern Lampung [Entwhistle 1974:3]. See entry for X76.1365 for background information on "tampan" and "pelepai" textiles from Lampung, Sumatra.
