Single panel cloth. Plain weave cloth with continuous and discontinuous supplementary weft. 2 Lidi, or 2 warps per pattern stick. warp: Cotton(?) thread, Z twist 64 threads per inch, natural. Bast, natural. Silk, Z twist, paired, 136 threads per inch, red. weft: Cotton(?), Z twist, natural. Bast, natural. SECONDARY MATERIALS: Silk thread, tripled, red, dark blue, yellow, green, medium blue. Gold or copper metallic thread, S wrapped on 2 ply S twist yellow silk core. Main structure of both warp and weft is alternate rows of very light and somewhat heavier thread; 8-12 of the very light (bast fiber) followed by 6-12 of the heavier (probably bast, possibly cotton). 5 cm selvedge bands are red silk warps. At each end are 5 rows of supplementary weft 8 point stars and diamonds, each row is separated by a row of sequins. The next 13 cm consist of red and metallic stripes bordering a 7.5 cm red silk supplementary weft pattern of large diamonds. In this section all wefts are of the very thin variety. Next are more rows of supplementary weft diamonds, 8 point stars and H figures. No pattern on the central 78 cm of the textile. There are 15 rows of sequins on each end, 14-20 per row. Fringe of plied warps, knotted with wisps of silk at end (red, orange, light blue, dark blue, purple, yellow).
