REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Kain panjang" or cloth worn as a . Probably batik tulis or hand drawn batik. The floral style and color suggest origin on the North Coast of Java. The town of Lasem on the North Coast of East Java is particularly known for manufacturing batiks in which a rich red is the predominant color.
