REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Selendang" or sash; a fringed "selendang" such as this would be used as a shoulder wrap or dance accessory. "Songket" technique or supplementary weft with metallic thread. Both gold-colored and silver-colored wrapped thread are used in this piece. Collected during the decade preceding World War II.
