REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Two identical cloths, X66.2844A&B. Centerfields decorated with scene from the Hindu epic "Ramayana" in weft ikat with chemical dyes. Borders decorated with "songket" technique or supplementary weft with metallic yarns. Probably used as temple decorations or possibly as clothing accessories at ceremonial occasions.
