Notes:
REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: "Geringsing" double ikat cloth from Tenganan Pageringsingan, Bali. Published illustrations are not sufficient for determining which of the approximately twenty known styles of "geringsing" this cloth represents. The warp of this cloth is still uncut, as it would have been taken off the continuous-warp back-tension loom. "Geringsing" with uncut warps were particularly valued, used as components of offerings, where they were intended as garments for dieties [Ramseyer 1984:227-228, including photo]. See entry for X61.1, where much of the information given also pertains to this cloth.
