Manufactured in Brussels, possibly after a cartoon by Rogier van der Weyden. Rogier lived in Brussels and some of his other paintings were translated to tapestries. Brussels was the leading tapestry center in Europe from the late 15th century until the center of production passed to Paris in 1663 when the Gobelins factory became part of the royal works.
