Description:
The museum cites the artist as the Master of the Mason's Panel (Maestro della Pala dei Muratori), active in Emilia in the third quarter of the fifteenth century. The saints Claudius and Castor are identified by the tools in their hands; they were masons and stonecutters who were martyred in Rome. The panel comes from the Residenza dell'Arte dei Muratori, the guildhall of the masons in Bologna and may have been created for their chapel.
