Description:
|
Palagi’s more lyrical, sentimental style was allied to the Bolognese school and to such artists as Guido Reni. While in Rome he was influenced by the work of Ingres. His early academic style, with its tendency towards Neo-classical subjects and formulae, continued even after the taste changed to Romanticism. In 1815 Palagi left Rome and shortly afterwards settled in Milan, where he remained until 1832, establishing a private school of painting and architecture.
