Description:
A Madonna and Child effigy, known as the "Madonna del Carmine," inside a portable tabernacle case with a glass front. The figures are papier mache, covered with gesso and painted, then dressed in elaborate small-scale costumes. These votive, devotional figures are similar in function to the Santos of the Spanish-speaking Catholic church.
