Description:
|
This draped female figure would have had inserted marble head, arms, and hands. Like the so-called Goddess of Morgantina, it is pseudo-acrolithic, meaning two forms of stone are combined. The rougher limestone is ideal for showing the drapery of the chiton and himation on the figure. It was found in the East Stoa at Morgantina, dated to the last quarter of the 3rd century BCE. [information on museum label.]
