Description:
The central emblem of a floor mosaic, done in opus vermiculatum work. The emblem is surrounded by a border frame of rare marble. Theseus fights the Minotaur while the seven maidens who were to be sacrificed to the Minotaur watch from the background. The story was recounted in Plutarch's Life of Theseus.
