Description:
Part of the 2015 "Pompeii" exhibit which featured over 220 archaeological artifacts, most from the Naples National Archaeological Museum. The exhibit was designed to immerse viewers in settings of every day life in Pompeii, complete with state-of-the-art visual effects and soundscapes. Fresco from the Temple of Isis (VIII.7.28) in Pompeii, discovered 1765. The temple portico paintings are all on red ground and feature different architectural views of shrines. The cult of Isis was part of the syncretic tendencies of religion in the Greco-Roman world of late antiquity; the Romans having acquired it from the Hellenistic Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt.
