Description:
The second chapel on the right of the nave, the Cesi Chapel, was designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger in 1525 for papal consistorial lawyer Angelo Cesi and dedicated to St Anne. It has an altarpiece of The Holy Family with St. Anne by Carlo Cesio. The vault has intricate stucco decoration, containing three fresco panels by Sermoneta. The statues and the reliefs on the two matching Cesi family memorials are by Vincenzo de Rossi (1560). De Rossi was also responsible for the two statues of SS Peter and Paul flanking the entrance. The enormous and intricate bas-relief around the chapel arch is by Simone Mosca. Flanking the window above the chapel are two frescoes by Filippo Lauri, featuring The Creation of Eve and The Fall. (These have also been attributed to Rosso Fiorentino.) (Source: Churches of Rome Wiki [website]; http://romanchurches .wikia.com/)
