Description:

Hale studied at the Hartford Art School with Elizabeth Stevens, and in 1899 with William Merritt Chase at Shinnecock Hills, Long Island. Her art education continued at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, with Edmund Tarbell. She is best known for her portraiture and is considered an American Impressionist.
