In the last years of the 14th century, Niccolò had absorbed the ideals of the Late Gothic style. In the first years of the 15th century he was the major Venetian exponent of this lyrical and elegant style. Jesus crowns Mary as God the Father looks on; as is typical the donor in the lower left corner is portrayed at a smaller scale. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.oxfordart online.com/)
