From the Proyecto Bachue Collection, Colombia. Ramírez was born in Medellín in 1923 and studied art there, where she won two art prizes in 1961 and 1965. In 1980 she won a scholarship as "artist in residence" in Boston. Her work was in the Pop genre, and she exhibited internationally. She was also a renowned tango dancer. This work is a 3D version of "Gardel in Flames," a Pop portrait of Carlos Gardel. Gardel was famous as a singer and composer of tango music and died in a plane crash in Medellín in 1935.
