From Canosa di Puglia, generally known simply as Canosa, a town and comune in Apulia in southern Italy. Canosa, the Roman Canusium, is considered the principal archaeological center of Apulia, and is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in Italy. Canusium, originally part of Magna Grecia, became an important commercial center for craftsman, especially of ceramics and pottery during Hellenistic times.
