Published in Puck Illustrirtes (German language version), April 5, 1882. Keppler and Schwarzman published the German weekly Puck Illustrirtes from 1876-1898 which helped keep the Puck empire afloat. The cover cartoons were the same. This cover shows Charles Dana, editor of the New York Sun "restoring" Samuel J. Tilden as a Democratic candidate for President, 1884 election. It is a reference to Luigi Palma di Cesnola, who was suspected of making questionable restorations to antiquities. (Source: Flagler Museum [website]; https://www.flaglerm useum.us/)
