Description:
|
This is both a still life and an abstracted portrait of Picasso's mistress, Marie-Thérèse Walter, which at the time was clandestine. Here she is portrayed as "woman as flower" or "woman as fruit." It was painted in Paris, March 11, 1931. (Source: Le Fur, Yves, ed.; Through the Eyes of Picasso: Face to Face with African and Oceanic Art, Paris: Editions Flammarion, 2017 (978-2-08-020319-9))
