REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Fragment. Identical to X61.50; probably both parts of the same original cloth. "Songket" refers to the Indonesian technique of supplementary weft weaving with metallic thread. In this cloth, gold(?) wrapped thread is used. A narrow cloth like this could still be used as a breast or waist wrapper for ceremonial occasions. Collected during the decade prior to World War II.
