REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Single panel of cloth decorated with warp stripes and warp ikat, with a band of twining securing the fringe. This cloth closely matches the description given in Gittinger 1975:27 of a style of "ulos" known as "situluntuho". These cloths were normally used as exchange gifts at weddings and funerals. In cases where the individuals involved were unable to afford the more elaborate "ulos ragidup" for wedding attire or for the required gift to a woman pregnant with her first child, an "ulos situluntuho" could be substituted.
