REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Modern "selendang" of commercial thread, perhaps a cotton/polyester blend. The metallic thread is single filament plastic(?) rather then the older style wrapped thread. Could be used for dance costume or temple decoration.
