REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: Consists of two widths hand sewn together. Decorated with the "prada" technique of gluing on gold leaf with "ancur" Chinese gelatine. "Kain prada" are used primarily as costume for theatrical or dance performances [Covarrubias 1937:198]. "Prada" cloths are additionally used as items of attire for participants in personal rituals and as temple decorations and cremation offerings [Gittinger 1979:141].
