REMARKS COMPILED IN 1987 BY ROY HAMILTON ON BASIS OF EXISTING RECORDS, EXAMINATION OF OBJECT, AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE: From the original accession material: "Baju" [Malay = shirt or blouse]; "Songket" (supplementary weft) technique; Kayan designs. The usual term for an Iban jacket is "kalambi". Supplementary weft pattern of commercial thread; commercial dyes. Sewn together with strips of cotton batik cloth, imported from outside of Iban territory. Lined recently with cotton cloth. Probably a man's jacket.
