DOCUMENTATION FROM COLLECTOR JEAN PIERRE HALLET: ^ The mask incarnates the spirit of "Mwana Pwo" (Young Girl)...The red wood of the carving is Pterocarpus tintorius. The opposite mask, a much larger and uglier one, is called "Tshikunza" which suggests an old man. Sometimes the Mwana Pwo and Tshikunza dance together.
