Notes:
Single panel, red, blue and beige plaid shoulder cloth with continuous and discontinuous supplementary weft patterning. warp: Handspun cotton, Z twist, single ply, 66 threads per inch, colors in red and indigo. Silk, Z twist, single ply, 68 threads per inch, tan. weft: handspun cotton, Z twist, single ply, 58 threads per inch, colors in red and indigo. Silk, Z twist, single ply,70 threads per inch, ivory. SELVEDGE: paired silk warps, Z twist, tan. SECONDARY MATERIALS: Gilt on paper wrapped thread, Z twist, cotton core (2 ply, Z twist, pink). Braid, gold wrapped thread (Z twist, yellow silk core). Body patterned with rows of 6-8 supplementary gold diamond shapes of approximately 1.5 cm width, and spaced from 11 1/2 to 17 1/2 cm apart. The warp border patterns on the two ends consists of three rows of differing motifs with the two intervening row's containing the bugi's chain surrounding triangles at the center band and floral(?) motifs at the outer bands. Motifs in the three patterned bands appear to vary on the warp borders, but this "difference" is due to placement of the triangles in the bugi's chain bands. When the triangles are centered over the motifs in the center band, the motifs appear to be large and complex. On the opposite warp border such centering does not occur, and the patterning seems to be more distinctly five bands. Selvedges are beige or ivory silk warps, 2 ply and paired. Braid of gold wrapped thread (metallic) pillow lace(?) crochet(?) on warp ends and up the selvedge approximately 12 cm. Hand hemmed at warp borders. 2 and 3 Lidi, or 2 and 3 warps per pattern stick.
