States, "William Ewart Gladstone - Northbourne d:d: 23 July 1839 - 23 July 1889," with the motto, "Fide et virtute;" features a coat of arms, a gryphon holding a sword, falcons, and an owl. Gladstone, a British political reformer and rival of Disraeli, was Prime Minister in England four times. Signed at bottom, "S. Hollyer," with "T.E.H. 1889" in lower left and right. Written underneath, in pencil, "S Hollyer."
