Views of Assisi photographed in July of 2016. Located on a spur of Monte Subasio, Assisi was the site of a feud of the Dukes of Spoleto in the Middle Ages. It became an independent commune in 12th century, later part of the Papal States. Noted for the large church and friary complex and relics of St. Francis of Assisi.
