Description:
Flanking the doors on the short walls are the four Virtues (Charity, Hope, Justice and Faith). These help divide the space for the twelve narrative scenes, four each on the long walls and two on the short walls, one on either side of the Virtues. The allegories are painted in illusionary niches, almost as trompe l'oeil sculpture. Faith is shown holding her attributes of cross, chalice and wafer; the cross and plate are gilded.
