Description:
|
One of two panels, originally part of a predella, from the Camaldolese church of San Michele in Borgo, in Pisa. Frequently attributed to the prolific and long-lived Pisan painter Turino Vanni, the predella also shows the influence of Spinello Aretino, who worked in Pisa from 1390 to 1392. This panel depicts the vision that prompted St. Romuald to found the monastery of Camaldoli. (Source: Uffizi Gallery [website]; https://www.virtualu ffizi.com/)
